Square frames on a Hasselblad 500C/M, on 120 film that has sat too long in a cupboard. Made within an hour of home.

First Rolls

June 2026 · Cannock Chase · 6×6 on expired film

The first frames I made after several years away. I went into the Chase with the Hasselblad and whatever film was still in the cupboard, without much of a plan beyond finding out whether I still knew how to look. These three are the ones that held. I am still walking it, using up what film I have left.

Tall pine trunks in a conifer plantation, low sun coming through
from the left, dense bracken covering the slope beneath them.

A fallen trunk, thick with moss, lying diagonally across a
grassy clearing, with scrub woodland closing in behind it.

Looking up into an oak canopy, a mossy limb crossing the frame,
backlit leaves and pale sky beyond.
